Starz Announces 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' Season 2 Premiere Date

Starz has officially announced the premiere date for the eagerly awaited second season of its 'Outlander' prequel, 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood'. Fans can mark their calendars for Friday, September 18th. This exciting news arrives on June 1st, a date globally recognized as World Outlander Day, commemorating the 35th anniversary of Diana Gabaldon's seminal 'Outlander' novel. To further ignite anticipation, a new teaser trailer for the upcoming season has been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the evolving narratives of the beloved characters' ancestors.

The first season of 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' captivated audiences by chronicling the parallel, yet equally fervent, love stories of Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) parents. As described by Starz, these tales depicted their arduous journeys to unite against formidable obstacles. The inaugural season commenced with Henry (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia (Hermione Corfield) Beauchamp's unexpected journey back in time, finding themselves separated and disoriented within 18th-century Scotland's rugged highlands.

By the conclusion of the first season, Henry and Julia had dramatically reunited at the mystical standing stones of Craigh na Dun, their hopes set on returning to their own era and their infant daughter, Claire. While Julia successfully navigated the temporal shift, Henry's fate remains a complex and unfolding narrative. Concurrently, the other branch of the family tree saw Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) embarking on a passionate elopement, only for their carefully laid plans to be disrupted by the tumultuous 1715 Jacobite Rising.

Beyond the central couples, 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' features a talented ensemble cast. Tony Curran portrays Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, while Séamus McLean Ross takes on the role of Colum MacKenzie. Sam Retford appears as Dougal MacKenzie, Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, and Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan, enriching the historical tapestry of the series.

Matthew B. Roberts serves as the showrunner for both the original 'Outlander' series and its prequel, 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood'. He also holds an executive producer credit for the prequel, alongside Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Michael Wilson, Jim Kohlberg, and Luke Parker Bowles. The production of 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' is overseen by Sony Pictures Television.

The second season of 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' is poised to continue the compelling sagas of these foundational characters, further exploring the historical and romantic intricacies that define the 'Outlander' universe. With its established blend of historical drama, romance, and time-travel fantasy, the series promises another captivating installment for its dedicated global fanbase.
