Unleashing Indonesian Talent: A New Era for Global Music

A Strategic Alliance for Indonesian Artists

A new collaborative record label, Lunar, has been unveiled by Sony Music Indonesia and Sun Eater Group. This joint venture is designed to cultivate and disseminate the work of Indonesian artists, with a clear vision of reaching international audiences. The partnership leverages Sony Music's vast global distribution infrastructure alongside Sun Eater's distinguished record of developing independent musicians.

Inaugural Artists and Their Distinctive Sounds

The newly formed entity, formally recognized as PT Lunar Musik Indonesia, commences its operations with three promising artists on its initial roster: Kecoud, Alee, and Nandoshi. These artists represent a spectrum of unique musical styles, poised to make their mark under the new label's guidance.

The Fusion of Global Reach and Grassroots Curation

This initiative strategically integrates Sony Music's worldwide presence with Sun Eater's respected methodology in artist nurturing. Sun Eater, known for its success in bridging local creative communities with broader commercial markets through artists like Hindia, Lomba Sihir, and Feast, brings an authentic, grassroots curatorial approach to the partnership.

Leadership Perspectives on the Venture

Muhammad Soufan, General Manager of Sony Music Indonesia, highlighted the vibrancy of Indonesia's digital music scene, expressing enthusiasm for the collaboration's ability to blend Sony's expansive reach with Sun Eater's genuine artist development. Kukuh Rizal Arfianto, founder and CEO of Sun Eater Group, articulated that Lunar was conceived to provide a dynamic environment that respects artistic growth, offering artists the benefits of both an agile independent label and the unparalleled access of a global leader.

Diverse Talent on the Horizon

The debut artists on Lunar's roster showcase a rich variety of musical territories. Kecoud, from East Java, introduces "Keroncong Hop," a unique blend of hip-hop and the traditional Javanese Keroncong genre, gaining significant traction with viral tracks and a substantial Spotify following. Alee, despite not yet having a commercial release, has garnered considerable online attention through a TikTok video of his songwriting process, leading to high anticipation for his official debut. Nandoshi, an English-language pop artist, is poised to build upon the success of Sun Eater's previous English-singing acts, aiming to create music that resonates emotionally and universally.

Future Expansion and Genre Exploration

Lunar has articulated plans for further expansion, intending to add three more artists to its lineup by the third quarter of 2026. The label is specifically looking to explore "hyperlocal regional music," "persona-driven online-first artists," and a "Halal Pop lane," demonstrating a commitment to embracing and promoting a wide array of musical expressions from Indonesia.
