Sofa DGTL, a Brazilian independent specialty channel network, is expanding its reach by introducing 16 free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels on YouTube. This strategic move aims to capture audiences in Brazil, various Spanish-speaking Latin American nations, the United States, and Portugal, offering a diverse array of films and series. The content will be meticulously curated and predominantly dubbed into Spanish or Portuguese, enhancing accessibility for local viewers.
The deployment of these channels will unfold in phases, commencing during the Rio2C 2026 event, Latin America's largest creativity gathering. Fabio Lima, CEO of Sofa DGTL, and Douglas Rodrigues, YouTube Brazil's strategic partner manager, highlighted the significance of this initiative. The new channels, building on Sofa DGTL's existing presence on other FAST platforms, will provide 24/7 linear programming, ranging from films and comedy to other television series, all localized for their respective markets.
This initiative represents a forward-thinking approach to content distribution, leveraging YouTube's extensive infrastructure and interactive capabilities. By offering curated linear programming with dynamic ad insertion, Sofa DGTL aims to meet the evolving preferences of viewers who increasingly favor longer-form content on connected TVs. This expansion not only broadens Sofa DGTL's global footprint but also positions it to compete for advertising revenue traditionally allocated to broadcast television, signaling a dynamic shift in the digital media landscape.
